Kauffman Scholars Learn About Smile For a Lifetime From Local Board Member
The Kauffman Scholars program is constantly working to place urban youth on the road to college graduation and beyond. Since Smile For a Lifetime uses orthodontic treatment to instill new confidence in students as they work toward their dreams, the two organizations may well be a match made in heaven.
That’s the goal of Kansas City board member Jarius Jones, who recently spoke to Kauffman parents and students. Jones received both a warm reception and amazing results!
His first discussion took place as part of a parent engagement meeting, which is a yearly event for the Kauffman program held at the beginning of the school year. Jones spoke to around 300 parents at the Jack Reardon Center on Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. He came well prepared, but in the end, the attention he recieved left him doing a little extra work.
Jones brought with him about 200 copies of the Smile For a Lifetime application. By the time the event was over, Jones says he was rushing to have more made!
Since the reception was so good, Jones decided to continue to try and get the word out to those involved with the Kauffman Scholars program. He spoke to three classes on September 25th, and soon, he says the phones were ringing off the hook.
Jones says speaking to organizations like the Kauffman Scholars is a great networking tool, and will go a long way toward getting the word out about Smile For a Lifetime, and what it can mean to students right here in the Kansas City metro.
